not me, please

I collect photographs of roadkill. There isn’t much variety here; mostly cats, kittens, mice, dogs, snakes. A bat. I’ve acquired the habit of turning my car around when I spot one. In this photo, I stopped my car in the middle of the road, deserted most of the time. I’ve seen my share of furry stiffs but she disturbed me most. The price of committing to this hobby is that eventually, the roadkill you stand in front of will tell you things, to stick you to their silence as you photograph them. And she was the first who told me to stop. I could only take one photo and then I left. She stuck to me the most.

mike: it’s a dead kitten, female. I censored the picture cause it seemed mean to spring it on someone just loading the page, but i find the uncensored picture really mesmerizing.

nad: i can’ stand it too, but i’m kinda helpless? if i see one on the road that was just hit but isn’t dead yet i’ll run it over again to make the pain end faster, haha.

Honestly speaking, I’m having trouble identifying what’s in the picture.. a bird? a bat? What disturbs me the most when spotting roadkill is how no one bothers to take them away from the spot where they were killed. And it just gets worse when I have to travel the same road again…
