(written on 1st January but) goddamned earthquakes.
now one of my favourite worlds is in a coma. i can no longer have my presence conveniently accounted for with a few mouseclicks.
all this sloth & slow motion are my smelling salts. the internet isn’t another invincible vault, it isn’t a hidden dimension I can tuck my thoughts in. A shift in tectonic plates in the timezone next door & now the net’s tangibility is proven. Like everything else, it is touchable.
see:
paper notebooks can get wet, torn, burnt, lost. (check, check, check, check)
hard drives crash. (check)
recycle bins erase. (check)
memories fade. (cheeeeeck)
the internet is a victim of climate. (check)
there is nowhere we can hide.
and nothing we can save.
2007 has to be the year where i stop holding on so tightly
and have no doubts about letting go.
(i know exactly where to start)

Happy New Year! And yeah, I totally agree with your sentiments, or at least understand it to a certain degree. Earthquakes make me realize too, that I’m just another junkie *keeps fingers crossed for smooth progress of net-recovery*
